The ECN Data Centre

Environmental Indicators

Environmental indicators are simple measures that help provide insight into what is happening in the environment.  The ECN Data Centre provides data on a range of environmental indicators:

Climate Change Indicators

These indicators are based on the ICCUK report (funded by DEFRA) which aimed to identify a set of indicators to monitor how the climate of the United Kingdom is changing and how it may be affecting aspects of our lives and natural environment.  Data from the Environmental Change Network sites have been used as an aid to interpret national trends in these indicators.

Biodiversity Indicators - Climate Change Impacts

This project was funded by DEFRA to produce a climate change indicator to measure changes in abundance in climate sensitive species.  A single, composite indicator has been developed, based on a substantial core of common butterfly, moth and carabid species.
